West Ham are understood to be keen on signing Newcastle centre-back Jamaal Lascelles in the January transfer window.
The Hammers have the worst defensive record in the Premier League this term, and need to sign reinforcements over the next couple of weeks.
Lascelles is of interest at West Ham, and talks have been opened to bring the 32-year-old to the London Stadium.
Lascelles’ signing would be a waste of money and guarantee relegation for West Ham…

Injury Expert delivers verdict on Jamaal Lascelles to West Ham
Dr Rajpal Brar, an Injury Expert and Sports Scientist, shared his thoughts on Lascelles’ potential transfer in this window.
Currently, the 32-year-old is ruled out with a muscle injury, one which he sustained back in October.
That has restricted him to just two Premier League appearances this term, playing just 19 minutes combined.
How would you rate Jean-Clair Todibo’s performance for West Ham vs Tottenham out of 10?
Seemingly giving West Ham the green signal, Dr Brar told Hammers News exclusively: “The positives I imagine are a Premier League-proven defender who you can possibly get at a very cutthroat rate due to him being out of favour and going through recent injuries.
“The negatives are that he has missed over two months with a muscular injury this season and hasn’t played much, both of which aren’t ideal in terms of fitness or hitting the ground running.
“All in all, West Ham have one of the poorest defensive records in the league, so perhaps it’s a low risk, high reward move on their end.”

Is a transfer for Lascelles imminent at West Ham?
Lascelles is among a number of defenders the club are considering in the January transfer window.
Apart from discussions, which are understood to be held internally, nothing is believed to be advanced with regards to the Newcastle defender.
No contact has been made between the clubs or with the centre-back’s intermediaries over a potential transfer this month.
Thus, nothing is imminent with regard to Lascelles’ move to West Ham, as things stand.
That said, things could accelerate in the coming days if the Hammers do not get their desired defensive targets.
They have strengthened in attack by signing Pablo and Taty Castellanos, and defence is now understood to be the priority for them.
