At the start of the summer, almost every single Hammers fan would have said that we needed to sign a new left-back.

But with our new found 5-4-1/3-4-3 system, the need for a new left-back isn’t quite as pressing.

Aaron Cresswell has slotted into the left centre-back role and in all fairness to him, he has really impressed.

Arthur Masuaku has been occupying the left-wing back role, and like Cresswell, the 26-year-old has really impressed.

The problem with this, however, is that should Masuaku suffer an injury or a suspension, we will be right back to square one.

We really do need to bring in someone who can act as cover for the Democratic Republic of Congo international.

The problem for West Ham boss David Moyes is that he has limited funds at his disposal. So he will need to be thrifty in his recruitment.

Kwadwo Asamoah – now released from Inter Milan is available on a free transfer. The 31-year-old has played at left wing-back throughout his entire career.

He won six league titles during his time with Juventus and is clearly a proven winner.

And some West Ham fans have pleaded with Moyes to bring the experienced Ghanaian to the London Stadium…
