West Ham fans have taken to Twitter in reaction to deadline day links with Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke.
The 31-year-old centre-forward is a deadline day transfer target for Hammers boss David Moyes according to a report from The Guardian.
Since we sold Sebastien Haller to Ajax in January 2021, West Ham have been scouring the market for a new forward.
As things stand though, the East London outfit have not been successful in our quest to replace the Ivory Coast international.
Moyes desperately needs to bolster his centre-forward ranks at the London Stadium before tonight’s 11pm deadline.
West Ham cannot continue to rely upon Michail Antonio as our only option through the middle.
It’s unfair on him as a player and for a club with aspirations of challenging for honours both domestically and on the continent, having one striker quite simply isn’t good enough.
Hopefully that will all change between now and 11pm tonight, however…
The Hammers fans would love any one of those names to rock up at the London Stadium on deadline day. It seems as though we may well have to lower our standards an expectations though…
West Ham fans react to potential deadline day swoop for Palace striker Benteke
The 31-year-old is firmly on the Hammers’ radar ahead of tonight’s 11pm deadline according to a report from The Guardian.
He has experienced a fairly underwhelming time at Selhurst Park since joining Crystal Palace, scoring just 37 goals in 169 appearances for the South London outfit (Transfermarkt).
The 43-capped Belgium international has bagged only four goals in 21 Premier League games for Crystal Palace so far this season (Transfermarkt).
Bringing him in would probably be better than signing nobody at all but some West Ham fans are still fuming that Benteke is even a target in the first place…
