West Ham fans can start to dust off their Chicharito sombreros very soon if a Guardian journalist’s Edson Alvarez claim is true.
Thousands of West Ham fans went out and bought Mexican hats when Javier Hernandez joined the club back in 2017.
Well it might be time to start searching the cupboards and the lofts for them six years on.
West Ham have been linked with a plethora of players over the last few months and can now start spending after the arrival of the first tranche of money from Arsenal for Declan Rice.
The Hammers are yet to sign a single player in the summer transfer window. They are one of only three Premier League clubs yet to enter the market.

Reports claim Mexican destroyer is prime Hammers target to replace Rice
That is all about to change, though, with David Moyes declaring his ‘full focus’ is now on bringing players in.
Rice’s departure leaves a massive hole in the West Ham midfield.
And one of the players being heavily linked as West Ham’s answer to filling it is Ajax star Edson Alvarez.
The Mexico midfielder is an absolute destroyer who would complement Lucas Paqueta perfectly.
Unlike Rice, the Mexican is more focused solely on his defensive duties, which will give Paqueta much more freedom to focus on creating and scoring.

West Ham are said to be ramping up their pursuit of Alvarez and it was reported over the weekend that a bid for the Ajax ace was imminent.
And West Ham fans can start to dust off their Chicharito sombreros very soon if a Guardian journalist’s Alvarez claim is true.
Writing in his Rumour Mill transfer column for The Guardian, Barry Glendenning claims he has heard West Ham are confident of getting a deal done for Ajax imminently – while the squad is over in Australia.
“In Australia on their pre-season jolly, West Ham are hopeful of signing Mexican midfielder Edson Alvarez from Ajax in what could be a forlorn bid to fill the Rice-shaped hole in their squad,” Glendenning said.
Alvarez played for Mexico overnight as he helped them lift the Gold Cup with a 1-0 win over Panama.
