West Ham fans baffled by Issa Diop links with Liverpool

According to a report from The Athletic, Liverpool have made an enquiry for West Ham United centre-back Issa Diop. And some Hammers fans have taken to Twitter in reaction to the speculation.

David Moyes has already strengthened his squad this month by bringing Manchester United ace Jesse Lingard to the London Stadium on loan.

West Ham desperately need a striker as well. With just a couple of days left before the transfer window slams shut, however, that is looking ever more unlikely.

Whatever happens between now and Monday, there surely cannot be any more outgoings. Or can there?

The Athletic claims that Liverpool could target a late move for Hammers ace Issa Diop.

West Ham allegedly want any kind of deal to include an obligation to buy for at least £20 million, however.

It does seem strange that we would be willing to give up on Diop so soon, however.

The 24-year-old joined the Hammers from Toulouse for £25 million in the summer of 2018 (The Express).

He has struggled over the past 12 months. There is undoubtedly a real player there, however. The Frenchman has a lot of talent, and he just needs to be playing regular football.

A loan move away from the London Stadium may be ideal. We certainly shouldn’t be including options or obligations to buy in any kind of deal, however.
