West Ham were interested in signing Donyell Malen and Albian Ajeti back in 2019 according to ExWHUemployee.

The Hammers decided to sign Ajeti instead of Malen in the end.

That now looks like a truly horrendous decision.

The Swiss striker failed miserably during his time at the London Stadium whilst the Dutch ace has gone from strength to strength over the past couple of years.

West Ham fans furious after Ex’s Donyell Malen tweet from 2019 resurfaces

How different things could have been for the Hammers had we decided to sign the PSV Eindhoven ace instead of Ajeti.

And some West Ham fans really aren’t happy…

David Moyes desperately needs to sign at least two strikers this summer.

After selling Ajeti last summer and Sebastien Haller in January, Michail Antonio is the only recognised senior striker at the London Stadium.

That clearly isn’t good enough for a club set to play in Europe next season.

Donyell Malen would be a great option for the Hammers

David Moyes named the 22-year-old as one of seven players to watch during Euro 2020, when speaking to The Times.

Malen has been a huge hit with PSV since joining the Dutch giants from Arsenal in 2017, racking up 55 goals and 24 assists in 116 games so far (Transfermarkt).

The Holland international has real pace, great movement and is a clinical finisher.

We would love West Ham to sign him this summer. Why we didn’t do just that two years ago, however, is truly mind boggling.
