The Hammers’ hopes of signing Lingard permanently are seemingly fading by the day.

The 28-year-old wants to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford according to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as quoted by Manchester United’s official website:

“Jesse has come back, he’s been bright and he wants to fight for his place. There’s nothing better than seeing players willing to fight for their place. Of course, what he did towards the end of the season, that is the true Jesse. That’s what we know he is capable of. I think we saw towards the end [of our own season] that we lacked maybe some options at times. He’s still in my plans. I expect him at Man Utd at the start of the season.”

And it seems as though West Ham boss David Moyes could already be setting his sights elsewhere.

West Ham eyeing West Brom star Matheus Pereira

Claret and Hugh claims that Moyes wants to bring the talented 25-year-old play-maker to the London Stadium this summer.

The Baggies ace would be a superb addition for the East London outfit.

The Brazilian is expected to cost around £15 million according to the Daily Star on Sunday (June 13th, page 41).

That seems like an absolute steal for West Ham.

Pereira racked up 11 goals and six assists in 33 Premier League games for West Brom (Transfermarkt).

The South American is a real game changer. He possesses a wicked delivery from set-pieces and has technical ability in abundance.

There is actually an argument to be made that the West Brom man would be a better signing than Lingard. He would certainly be a better value for money addition considering Jesse’s age.

Whether the Baggies would indeed sanction his sale for the reported £15 million fee, however, remains to be seen.
