West Ham United are interested in signing FC Metz striker Georges Mikautadze this summer.

According to a report from Le10Sport, West Ham have joined the race to sign the 22-year-old forward, with Metz demanding around €20 million (£17.1 million) for his signature.

Gianluca Scamacca has already left to join Atalanta, whilst Michail Antonio is being heavily linked with a move to Wolves.

And it seems as though Moyes has somewhat of a surprising target in mind for the job…

West Ham eyeing Georges Mikautadze swoop this summer

The Hammers are one of many clubs trying to sign the France born Georgia international, according to a report from Le10Sport.

The 22-year-old was on fire for Metz last season, and earned raved reviews for his consistently excellent performances.

He bagged 24 goals and nine assists in 40 games for Metz last season (Transfermarkt), and played a key role in their promotion from Ligue 2 up to Ligue 1.

However, it has to be said that 23 of those goals and eight of those assists all came in France’s second tier. The Premier League is a huge jump up in quality, speed and intensity from Ligue 1. So can you imagine how far behind top tier English football Ligue 2 is?

Signing Georges Mikautadze would represent a big risk for West Ham this summer as far as I’m concerned. He is a very strong forward, and possesses impressive pace as well.

However, there are simply no guarantees that he will succeed in the Premier League. I would much prefer Moyes to sign someone like Armando Broja this summer if I’m honest.
