West Ham have denied making an utterly bizarre request to Norwich about signing their star player Jonathan Rowe in the January window.

The January transfer window has is nearly at the halfway stage and there is no sign yet of West Ham making any much-needed signings.

The Hammers intend to be active in the winter window but are having to move players out to clear space in the squad and on the wage bill.

In an exclusive transfer update from the top source inside West Ham, Hammers News was told ‘no new arrivals are close at the moment’.

But the senior contact reassured fans the club is ‘looking everywhere’ amid a spate of injuries to key players and with Mohammed Kudus and Nayef Aguerd at AFCON.

That includes the Championship and specifically Norwich City it seems as reports abound of interest in their attacking livewire Jonathan Rowe.

West Ham deny utterly bizarre request

The Evening Standard has claimed West Ham have been monitoring exciting 20-year-old England youth international Rowe.

It comes amid Hammers interest in another top English talent from the second tier in the shape of Sunderland’s Jack Clarke.

Following the claims, rumours have emerged about how West Ham are approaching their reported interest in Norwich attacker Rowe – who scored a wonder goal in their win at Hull on Friday night.

Rowe claim rubbished

Hammers fans have been understandably angry after it was claimed that West Ham’s hierarchy have ‘asked to be kept informed of any bids for Rowe in order to avoid missing out on the transfer’.

That claim, which you can see in the post below, has been attributed to The Evening Standard.

Although it is not mentioned in their report and is unclear whether the story was updated.

Many supporters have been incredulous at that reported stance. It’s easy to understand why. It would be a laughable approach to signing one of the most highly rated young talents in the country.

Justifiably some supporters have questioned the alleged strategy, suggesting if West Ham want the player then they should bid for him and try to get a deal done rather than wait for an auction.

Especially with West Ham so desperate to make signings.

It’s so bizarre we put the claim to a top source inside West Ham who – while not denying interest in Rowe – had a short sharp answer on whether the Hammers have asked Norwich to ‘keep them informed of any bids for Rowe’.

“Rubbish,” the senior West Ham source told Hammers News.

A lesson in not believing everything you read.

Especially during the transfer window!
