West Ham have been dealt somewhat of a blow with Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero claiming that Mikkel Damsgaard is now worth at least €30 million (£25.6 million), as quoted by Gazzetta Sampdoriana.

The Hammers want to sign the 20-year-old Danish starlet according to The Athletic.

David Moyes may well be looking to add some quality to his attacking midfield and left and right wing departments this summer.

The signing of Jesse Lingard is far from being close whilst Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko both face uncertain futures at the London Stadium.

And with that in mind, talented youngster Damsgaard would be an excellent addition for West Ham this summer.

Club Doria 46 claimed at the end of last week that the Hammers could sign the 20-year-old for just £17 million.

West Ham dealt Mikkel Damsgaard blow

Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has suggested that after the youngster’s fine displays for Denmark at the Euros this summer, his price tag has sky rocketed as quoted by Gazzetta Sampdoriana:

“Did you see that Damsgaard goal? I’ll tell you its fair price, today at least 30 million. But if he scores again he will reach 40…”

The Serie A club will now demand at least £25.6 million, and potentially as much as £34 million, for Damsgaard this summer.

That’s a serious amount of cash for West Ham to be splashing out on a single player this summer.

We think that if Sampdoria do demand that much for the 20-year-old, the Hammers can be ruled out as potential challengers for his signature.

That would be a real shame. Damsgaard is clearly a huge talent.

David Moyes will have to scour the market for better value. The Scot is very good at that, however. So all is not lost West Ham fans!
