West Ham allegedly could make a move to sign Udinese ace Gerard Deulofeu but only if we sell Jarrod Bowen in the summer.
That’s according to a report from Mundo Deportivo who claims that the Spanish winger is on the Hammers’ radar ahead of the summer transfer window.
West Ham manager David Moyes has so much work to do in the summer transfer window.
The Scot needs to bring at least four or five top-class players to the London Stadium before the start of the new season.
The West Ham manager’s priorities will be to sign a striker, a centre-back, a left-back and a central midfielder.
He could be forced into strengthen another area of his squad, however.
West Ham could sell Jarrod Bowen this summer, but only for a minimum of £75 million according to a report from Caught Offside. Liverpool allegedly want to sign the former Hull City ace (The Athletic).
Hopefully West Ham keep hold of Bowen but if we are forced into selling the 25-year-old, it seems as though Moyes has a plan up his sleeve to replace him.
West Ham could sell Jarrod Bowen and replace him with Udinese forward
According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, the Hammers are interested in signing Gerard Deulofeu from Udinese in the summer.
However, Moyes will only move for the 27-year-old if Bowen leaves the London Stadium at the end of the season.
The Spaniard is a very good player but it’s debatable that he would be good enough to replace Bowen at West Ham.
Udinese paid around £14 million to sign him from Watford in the summer of 2021 according to Football Italia. And Deulofeu has been a huge hit in Italy, bagging seven goals and two assists in 22 league games so far (Transfermarkt).
He is highly experienced and has the ability to change a game with a moment of brilliance. The Spaniard possesses exceptional technique and has high energy levels.
Deulofeu can play anywhere along the front-line and that kind of versatility will undoubtedly appeal to Moyes.
We feel that the former Everton, Barcelona and Watford ace would actually be a good addition for the Hammers but only if we keep Bowen at the club.
We can’t expect to make progress as a football club by selling our best players and replacing them on the cheap. Deulofeu is available for just £17 million this summer according to Calciomercato.
That’s good value and the Spaniard would certainly add a lot to this West Ham team. He should be signed as a replacement for Andriy Yarmolenko though, not Bowen.
West Ham could sell Jarrod Bowen for a huge fee but that would cause a mutiny at the London Stadium amongst the fans and probably the players too.
This summer will be a hugely important one for West Ham United. We need to make a lot of top-class signings.
One thing that Moyes definitely shouldn’t be doing though is selling Bowen and replacing him with Deulofeu. Signing the Spaniard whilst keeping Bowen, however, would be good business.
