West Ham and Leeds are both interested in signing Sampdoria centre-back Omar Colley this summer according to a report from Club Doria 46.

The Serie A outfit will demand around £12.8 million for the 28-year-old defender (Club Doria 46).

This could be a really interesting battle for Colley’s signature this summer.

Both the Hammers and the Whites desperately need to bolster their central defensive ranks this summer.

David Moyes and Marcelo Bielsa have already been linked with a whole host of centre-backs.

West Ham and Leeds chasing Omar Colley

Club Doria 46 reckon that the two Premier League clubs are eyeing up summer swoops for the 24-capped Gambia international.

Colley would be a brilliant signing for either the Hammers or the Whites.

Perhaps there’s a better chance that he will end up at the London Stadium rather than Elland Road, however.

West Ham can offer the Gambian Europa League football next season – something that Leeds cannot of course.

With Fabian Balbuena having left the Hammers, there is a good chance that Colley would play regularly for Moyes’s side.

Bielsa does have a great reputation, however, and could easily tempt the Sampdoria ace into moving to West Yorkshire this summer.

We just think that West Ham are better placed than Leeds to win the race for Colley this summer.

The centre-back has the same agent as former West Ham loanee Joao Mario (Sempre Inter). So perhaps that familiarity will help us get a deal for the Gambian over the line.

With his powerful and imposing physique, the 6ft 3in centre-back seems to be ideally suited to the robust nature of the Premier League.

In 29 Serie A appearances for Sampdoria last season, Colley averaged one tackle, 2.3 interceptions, 4.6 clearances and one block per game. He has also won an average of 2.6 aerial duals per match (Who Scored).

And if the Hammers do manage to sign the 28-year-old centre-back ahead of the Whites, it would be a very big statement from the East London outfit.
