West Ham United manager Julen Lopetegui appears to be eyeing up alternative targets for Jhon Duran this summer.
Julen Lopetegui reportedly wants to bring Jhon Duran to West Ham this summer, and the club have apparently lodged a £35 million bid for the 20-year-old Aston Villa striker.
Signing a top-class striker will be absolutely vital for the Hammers boss this summer, if he is to take us to another level entirely.
Michail Antonio will still be able to do a job for us, but he definitely shouldn’t be leading the line for us from the start next season.
In my view, Duran is the man we need. He’s perfect for us what with his physical attributes and impressive pace.
Should we miss out on the Colombian though, Lopetegui absolutely must have one or two alternative options up his sleeve.
West Ham line up Jhon Duran alternatives
Whilst the Villa hitman may well be Lopetegui’s priority transfer target, it would be foolish not to have a contingency plan in place.
As we all know, big deals are notoriously hard to get over the line.

And if Lopetegui is unable to bring Duran to the London Stadium this summer, it would be nice if he had a deal for another striker in the pipeline.
Fortunately for the Hammers, that’s exactly what the West Ham boss is thinking it seems.
According to Caught Offside, West Ham are interested in signing Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah this summer.
The Gunners are asking for around £30 million for the 25-year-old – £20 million less than what they valued him at just last month.
However, Marseille, Brentford, Crystal Palace, Everton and Wolves want to sign him as well.
I like Nketiah, and feel like he’d be a good signing for us. However, I don’t think West Ham should be paying anything more than £20-25 million for him.
The Arsenal striker possesses decent pace and movement, and is well-known for being a very good finisher.
He would work well leading the line for us, playing in between Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus. As mentioned earlier though, I wouldn’t like to see West Ham pay anything more than £25 million for Eddie Nketiah this summer.
