West Ham allegedly could make a move to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Abdou Diallo in the January transfer window.
With Aaron Cresswell still out with a back problem, and no return date in sight, the addition of a left-back will be vital if the Hammers are to continue our fine start to the season.
And it seems that’s exactly what West Ham boss David Moyes is planning to do.
L’Equipe reckon that the Hammers are eyeing up a January swoop for PSG ace Abdou Diallo.
And we think that the 25-year-old Senegal international would be a very smart addition to Moyes’s ranks.
West Ham signing Abdou Diallo would be a sensational move
The Senegalese ace joined Paris Saint-Germain from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2019 for around €32 million (£26 million) according to ESPN.
Diallo has made nine appearances for PSG so far this season. During those outings, the 25-year-old has averaged 2.1 tackles, 1.1 interceptions and 1.1 clearances per match.
He has made an average of 58.7 passes per game and has recorded a completion rate of 88.8% (Who Scored).
Diallo is absolutely rapid. In two Champions League games for PSG this season he has clocked speeds of 30.3 km/h (UEFA).
He is also very apt at winning back possession for his team and has averaged 7.5 ball recoveries per game in the Champions League so far this season (UEFA).
The PSG ace seems to have everything West Ham need. He would be a fabulous long-term replacement for Aaron Cresswell.
And at 25, Diallo would be a far better long-term option than Lucas Digne who will be 29 before the start of next season.
Whether Paris Saint-Germain will be willing to sell the Senegal international ace midway through the season, however, remains to be seen. Perhaps they won’t be able to refuse an offer from the Hammers if it is a significant one.
Let’s hope that the West Ham owners don’t play their usual tricks with this one. PSG won’t be messed about. Diallo would be a superb signing for us. Hopefully GSB act appropriately in any potential negotiations if the 25-year-old left-back is indeed a player who David Moyes wants to sign.
