West Ham’s latest transfer target suggests they are already preparing for life in the Championship next season.

The Hammers have been linked with a summer move for Belgian Pro League striker Pape Moussa Fall.

Fall is currently on loan from Ligue 1 club Metz at RAAL La Louviere, where he has scored nine league goals.

The forward would be an ideal signing for West Ham if they are relegated from the Premier League this month.

Fall came through Metz’s academy, but he has spent the last three seasons on loan at RFC Seraing and La Louviere.

He scored 18 goals in two seasons with Seraing in the second tier before stepping up to the top flight with La Louviere.

In the 2025/26 campaign, Fall has netted 12 times in 29 appearances in all competitions, including one penalty.

He will return to Metz this summer, who have just been relegated to Ligue 2, and they are likely to let him leave.

According to L’Equipe, the French club have set a £5 million (€6m) asking price for the Senegalese striker.

Fall is wanted by teams in England, Germany, France, Turkey and Belgium, most notably West Ham and Crystal Palace.

If they avoid relegation, the Hammers would surely look to sign a more experienced goalscorer at the highest level.

However, in the Championship, taking a punt on a 21-year-old talent like Fall could prove to be shrewd business.

Especially for a fee as insignificant as £5m, the Metz striker would be a low-risk, high-reward signing as part of a major rebuild.
