David Moyes is desperate to bolster his central defensive ranks at the London Stadium this summer.
Angelo Ogbonna picking up an injury against Celtic a couple of weeks ago increased the urgency for Moyes to get the signing of a new centre-back over the line before the start of the new season.
Deals for Kurt Zouma and Nikola Milenkovic seem to be problematic.
Perhaps the Hammers’ attention will turn elsewhere.

West Ham now eyeing Jannik Vestergaard
The Telegraph claims that the 29-year-old Southampton centre-back is on the Hammers’ radar.
We think that the Denmark international would be a fine addition for West Ham.
Vestergaard joined Southampton from Borussia Monchengladback in the summer of 2018 for around £18 million (ESPN).

And the giant 6ft 6in Denmark international has gone on to make 79 appearances for the Saints. He has established himself as an important player for Ralph Hasenhuttl at St Mary’s.
Vestergaard made 30 Premier League appearances for Southampton last season. In those outings, the 29-year-old averaged 1.7 tackles, 1.4 interceptions, 4 clearances and 0.5 blocks per game. He also won an average of 3.3 aerial duals per match during that period (WhoScored).

If West Ham fail with their move to sign Milenkovic, Vestergaard would be a decent alternative. And with just one year remaining on his current deal, he may well be up for grabs for a bargain fee this summer.
