Earlier today we covered a report from football journalist J Montanelli suggesting that West Ham had made a £15 million plus add-ons bid for Marseille defender Duje Caleta-Car. That has now allegedly been rejected, however.
Many Hammers fans were excited at the prospect of the Croatian rocking up at the London Stadium, and rightly so.
Caleta-Car is a top-class defender and would improve West Ham’s back-line immeasurably.
David Moyes would surely be able to improve him further still as well given his record with new signings over the past 18 months.
There is some worrying news for the Hammers fans to digest, however…
West Ham Caleta-Car bid rejected
The 24-year-old is clearly a key target for Moyes and has been since January.
The Hammers’ £15 million plus add-ons bid for the Croatia international has been rejected, however:
It seems as though this should be a relatively simple crease to iron out…should being the operative word.
We all said that about Milenkovic. Let’s just hope that the West Ham owners get this one done with minimal fuss.
Even if we have to pay £20 million for Caleta-Car, we should do it. He’s more than worth that kind of fee.
It seems as though it’s just a case of the deal being structured to better suit Marseille.
And if the Hammers manage to sign the Marseille ace as well as a striker and someone like Jesse Lingard, we could be in for a really exciting season.
