West Ham boss David Moyes should be banging Liverpool’s door down as unhappy star Naby Keita reportedly asks to leave Anfield.

West Ham and Liverpool have shared a few column inches when it comes to transfers over the last eight months.

It was well publicised in January that West Ham were trying hard to sign Darwin Nunez (Sky Sports).

The move did not happen and and Liverpool pounced to sign Nunez this summer.

It was the second West Ham move Jurgen Klopp had hijacked after Liverpool snatched Luis Diaz from under Moyes’ nose in January with the Scot believing he had the Colombian all but signed.

Liverpool had been linked with Hammers ace Jarrod Bowen all summer until Mohamed Salah signed his new Liverpool deal.

And West Ham are continually linked with a move for Alex Oxlade Chamberlain.

Now West Ham boss Moyes should be banging Liverpool’s door down as unhappy star Naby Keita asks to leave Anfield.

That’s according to claims from Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg and Sky Sports overnight.

“Exclusive news: Naby Keita: He is unhappy with his current situation in Liverpool,” Plettenberg reports.

“There were talks about a contract extension but they have stopped now. His departure is possible regardless of Thiago and Oxlade-Chamberlain. But early stage. Talks will take place.”

Sky Sports News senior reporter Melissa Reddy says Keita leaving ‘wouldn’t be the worst solution’ for all concerned.

“You could say Liverpool are unhappy with Nabby Keita because he’s been unavailable so much due to injury problems and issues adjusting from being the main man at Leipzig to operating at such a collective system under Jurgen Klopp,” Reddy reports for Sky Sports.

“He’s shown his talent in glimpses but not the player Liverpool thought they were getting. He was billed as if he could reach his potential, he could become one of the top five players in world football.

“I remember Klopp saying when he signed him, he never had his phone buzz to much, there were so many messages of congratulations because so many clubs were trying to get Keita.

“I think fresh terms are only being offered due to Liverpool trying to keep his valuation in tact. If he were to leave, it wouldn’t be the worst situation for Liverpool, it wouldn’t be completely detrimental for them.”

West Ham are desperately searching for a quality new central midfielder after pulling out of a deal for Amadou Onana and missing out on Matheus Nunes to Wolves.

Moyes is reportedly interested in Brighton’s Moises Caicedo but was hit by the blow that Manchester United want the Ecuadorian too.

So now Moyes must pounce to give Keita the Liverpool exit he reportedly desires in a move that would be perfect for all parties.

Liverpool get an unhappy player off their books while recouping a big chunk of their original £48m outlay (BBC Sport).

West Ham get the top quality, dynamic midfielder they need and Keita gets the regular game time he craves.

Moyes has shown interest in Keita as recently as January. According to Transfer Market Web and Football Fan Cast, West Ham wanted Keita in the winter window and it was believed they could get him for between £25-30m.

After a 4-0 Liverpool win over West Ham a few years ago, some Hammers fans described Keita as ‘amazing’.
