There has been a blow for West Ham as desperate Man United switch targets in a bid to hijack a David Moyes move for a dominant powerhouse.
West Ham are reportedly very keen to sign central midfield destroyer Moises Caicedo from Brighton before the transfer window closes.
Moyes is desperate to sign a new midfielder after pulling the plug on a move for Amadou Onana and failing in a bid to convince Mathues Nunes to join West Ham.

According to a report from The Sunday Mirror (print edition August 14th, page 76) West Ham, who tried to sign Caicedo last summer (Daily Record), are preparing to go big to get the man this time around.
Brighton ended up winning the race for the 23-capped Ecuador international, however, and signed him for just £4.5 million in the January window (Sky Sports).
Caicedo wowed anyone watching Brighton’s win at Man United in the season opener.

But unfortunately for the Hammers it looks like he wowed Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag too.
And it is a blow for West Ham as desperate Man United switch targets in bid to hijack the move for dominant powerhouse Caicedo.
With Adrien Rabiot’s move to Old Trafford looking ‘increasingly unlikely’, Sky Sports claims Man United have turned their attentions to signing West Ham target Caicedo instead.

“With a little over two weeks to go in the transfer window, United are looking at other midfield options – and Caicedo is in their sights,” Sky Sports claim.
“Brighton have no intention of selling but United are expected to make an offer. The 20-year-old Ecuador international impressed in Brighton’s 2-1 opening-weekend win at Old Trafford as Graham Potter’s side handed new United boss Erik ten Hag defeat in his first game in charge…
“However, Brighton’s transfer policy is that they will only sell at the right time for the right price. (Man) United will have internal discussions about whether to make their interest formal with an official bid.”

There was some good news for West Ham in the report as it claims Man United could try to sign Real Madrid’s Casemiro instead.
Given Caicedo has a contract until 2025, West Ham and Man United would likely have to pay a pretty penny for the midfielder.
West Ham have proved they have the money to spend as they bid £33m for Onana and were willing to meet the £40m fee for Nunes.
Caicedo is just what West Ham need and would free up Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek to get further up the pitch where they can make a big impact.

Unfortunately the 20-year-old is just what Man United need too given their own problems in the middle of the park.
Whether West Ham or the Red Devils can tempt Brighton into another big sale following the departures of the likes of Yves Bissouma and Marc Cucurella remains to be seen.
But Man United’s interest is clearly bad news for West Ham even if they are going through one of the most difficult periods in their modern history.
