When speaking to reporters yesterday, David Moyes insisted that he has no interest whatsoever in selling West Ham United ace Issa Diop because of the centre-back’s great potential, as quoted by Claret and Hugh.

The 24-year-old has only recently returned to the Hammers team having spent most of the season warming the bench.

And in fairness to the Frenchman, he has performed really well during his last two games for West Ham.

Diop, signed from Toulouse in the summer of 2018 for £25 million according to The Express, has failed to fulfil his potential at the London Stadium.

He was linked with moves to Liverpool and Inter Milan in January (Foot Mercato).

David Moyes has no interest in selling Issa Diop

The former Toulouse ace has so much talent and has all of the basic ingredients needed to go on and become a truly top class centre-back.

And that is why David Moyes says he has no interest in selling the 6ft 4in defender, as quoted by Claret and Hugh:

“No, nobody did. There was a lot of noise from people who thought there should be but he’s under contract here and I was never letting Issa go no matter what. Whether we were using him or not, there is potential there. He has been potential for a couple of years and he has to show his potential. He has just started to settle back in the team, we’ve got to give him the chance to do so. If we want to be a team around top half, middle half you’re always going to have competition for your jersey.”

The 24-year-old Frenchman, who earns £64k-a-week according to WT Foot, is almost certain to play against Manchester City this afternoon.

If Diop continues the form he has shown over the last two games for the remainder of the season, he will have a key role to play for West Ham this season.

He will be a very busy man at the Etihad today. And it is yet another big chance for Diop to prove his worth to the Hammers.
