Hammers boss David Moyes is thought to be on the look-out for a top class centre-back.

In fact, signing an established central defender is one of the Scot’s main three priorities this summer (Claret and Hugh).

Fabian Balbuena has left the London Stadium. And all of a sudden, West Ham are looking very short in the centre-back department.

West Ham set to bid for Duje Caleta-Car?

Foot Mercato claims that a €15 million (£12.8 million) bid for the 24-year-old could be incoming from the Hammers imminently.

If we manage to pick the Croatia international up for that kind of fee it would be sensational business for us.

In 33 Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille last season, the 24-year-old scored two goals and registered one assist. In those outings, the Croatian averaged 0.9 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 3.9 clearances per game. He also won an average of 2.5 aerial duals per match (Who Scored).

The Croatian is also very good with the ball at his feet. From an average of 57.4 passes per game last season in Ligue 1, Caleta-Car recorded an impressive completion rate of 86.1% (Who Scored).

£12.8 million for the 24-year-old would represent a real coup for the Hammers.

Let’s hope that the board back David Moyes to the hilt this summer and enable him to bring players like Caleta-Car to the London Stadium.
