West Ham are back in for a man mountain Tim Steidten knows very well indeed after a new Jonathan Tah claim.
West Ham are looking to be active in the January transfer window but must move on fringe players first.
Not only to make space in the squad but also satisfy FFP rules with the Hammers at their maximum for wages-to-turnover.
David Moyes said last week he will need to make signings, especially with key players unavailable for as many as six games due to AFCON.
And he also added the line: “I see a changing of the guard in some positions.”

West Ham back in for man mountain Steidten knows well
Central defender Thilo Kehrer is expected to leave with Eintract Frankfurt, Roma and Aston Villa interested.
Nayef Aguerd will be away at AFCON with Morocco. And Angelo Ogbonna is likely in his last season with the club.
So it is not surprising to see West Ham have been linked with moves for several defenders including Dan-Axel Zagadou, Edmond Tapsoba and Piero Hincapie.
They’re not the only ones, though.
Because West Ham back in for a man mountain Tim Steidten knows very well indeed after a new Jonathan Tah claim.
German international Tah was named as a prime West Ham target in the summer window.

Exciting new Jonathan Tah claim made
The move never happened as West Ham signed Konstantinos Mavropanos from Stuttgart instead. But given West Ham’s centre-back situation, 6ft 5in powerhouse Tah continues to be linked.
And he recently refused to rule out an exit from Bayer Leverkusen.
Again it should be no real surprise given Tah was playing for Leverkusen during Steidten’s four years as sporting director there.
According to German site Fussball Transfers, Bayern Munich also want Tah. But he prefers a move to the Premier League in a big boost for West Ham.
And the report also claims he still has a paltry £15m release clause.
Indeed TEAMTALK claims the Hammers have ‘incredibly overtaken Munich’ in the race for Tah.
The 27-year-old has formed a key part of Xabi Alonso’s amazing Leverkusen team this season, starting 21 games and scoring four goals as they remain the only unbeaten team in all competitions in Europe’s top five leagues.
