The towering Croatian centre-back is all set to leave Marseille this summer (Le Phoceen).
Hammers boss David Moyes is allegedly keen to bolster his central defensive ranks at the London Stadium this summer.
In fact, signing a centre-back is one of Moyes’s three main priorities this summer according to a report from Claret and Hugh.
The Croatian is a top class central defender and the Hammers could do a lot worse than signing him, that’s for sure.
West Ham back in for Caleta-Car?
Le Phoceen claims that David Moyes is once again eyeing up a move to sign the 24-year-old.
The Daily Mail reckons that he could be signed for around £20 million this summer.
In an ideal world, the West Ham owners wouldn’t think twice about paying that for a player like Caleta-Car.
In 33 Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille this season, the 24-year-old scored two goals and registered one assist. In those outings, the Croatian averaged 0.9 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 3.9 clearances per game. He also won an average of 2.5 aerial duals per match (Who Scored).
The Croatian is also very good with the ball at his feet. From an average of 57.4 passes per game this season in Ligue 1, Caleta-Car recorded an impressive completion rate of 86.1% (Who Scored).
Well-renowned football analysis and scouting website IBWM recently described Caleta-Car as an ‘exceptional talent’.
£20 million for Caleta-Car would be superb business.
