West Ham United will reportedly look to sign Brazilian winger Tete in the summer transfer window when his short-term deal with Lyon expires.
That’s according to a report from Le 10 Sport who claim that the Hammers are interested in bringing the 22-year-old to the London Stadium after his impressive showings for Lyon over the past couple of months.
West Ham manager David Moyes will be a busy man in the transfer market this summer.
It’s clear to see that his priorities will be to sign a new striker, a left-back, one or two central midfielders and a centre-back.
It could be argued that we need an exciting winger as well, however, with Andriy Yarmolenko on his way out of the club in the summer.
And it seems as though Moyes has his eye on someone in particular…
West Ham eyeing Tete capture in the summer transfer window
Le 10 Sport claim that the Brazilian ace is firmly on the Hammers’ radar.
FIFA opened a short window (that closed on April 7th) to allow players in Russia and Ukraine to find new clubs.
Players contracted to clubs in Russia and Ukraine were able to suspend their terms of employment until June 30th, as outlined here on FIFA’s official website.
The Premier League blocked any potential signings mid-season, however, in order to maintain sporting integrity (Sky Sports).
Meanwhile, Lyon took advantage of the new rule by bringing Tete to the Groupama Stadium from Shakhtar Donetsk on a free.
And now West Ham are seemingly looking to bring him in to the London Stadium before the start of next season.
Tete will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season and we think that if Moyes manages to bring him to the London Stadium, it would be a quite stunning capture for West Ham.
The 22-year-old has bagged two goals and four assists in 10 games for Lyon since joining them six weeks ago. He racked up 31 goals and 15 assists in 108 games for Shakhtar (Transfermarkt).
Tete possesses skill and pace in abundance and his playing style is quintessentially Brazilian.
He’s only 22, so is far from the finished article. The South American has so much talent and potential though. He has been described as a ‘stunning player’ by Ligue 1’s official website.
Tete could go on to become one of the elite wingers in world football if he continues to work hard and applies himself correctly both on and off the pitch.
He was rated at around £25 million as recently as last summer (Daily Mail). So if West Ham sign Tete on a free transfer in the summer window it would be fantastic business for us.
