West Ham United are allegedly set to make another bid for Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha.

According to a report from talkSPORT, a second bid from West Ham for Joao Palhinha is ‘imminent’.

The East London outfit have been chasing Palhinha all summer long, and recently had a £40 million bid rejected for the 28-year-old.

Hammers boss David Moyes is looking for a top-class defensive midfielder to come in and replace Declan Rice in the summer transfer window.

And it seems as though he has his heart set on the Fulham ace…

West Ham are clearly desperate to sign Joao Palhinha after talkSPORT make fresh claim

talkSPORT reckon that the Hammers are imminently set to make a second bid for the Portugal international.

The 28-year-old would be a good addition for West Ham, but I can’t escape the feeling that we could do a lot better, especially considering how much Fulham are demanding for the midfield destroyer.

The Daily Mail reckon the Cottagers want £60 million for the former Sporting Lisbon ace – that’s just too much money in my opinion.

Football analysis website Foot the Ball describe Palhinha as an ‘elite’ midfielder and whilst he is a very good player, I think West Ham shouldn’t be paying anything more than £40 million for him.

Palhinha is a tenacious tackler and has energy and athleticism in abundance.

However, he’s not the best passer in the world and has just turned 28. There is far better value to be had in the transfer market this summer in my opinion. Just look at the likes of Sofyan Amrabat, Khephren Thuram and Ibrahim Sangare.

I believe West Ham will be making a big mistake if we pay a penny more than £40 million for Joao Palhinha this summer.
