West Ham are eyeing up the signing of Eddie Nketiah on a free transfer from Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to football Journalist Paul Brown who has been speaking to Give Me Sport.

The Arsenal striker will be out of contract at the Emirates in the summer and Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is set to lose the 22-year-old for absolutely nothing.

Meanwhile, Hammers manager David Moyes is desperate to add a striker to his ranks at the London Stadium in the summer.

The Scot tried to do exactly that in the January transfer window but failed to do so.

Now the onus is on him to put that right before the start of next season. And it seems as though he has a very cost effective plan up his sleeve…

West Ham eyeing Arsenal striker in summer window

The Hammers desperately need to bolster in pretty much every department this summer.

As such, Moyes will have to use his funds wisely. And bearing that in mind, it is no surprise that West Ham might be interested in signing Arsenal’s Nketiah.

Football Journalist Paul Brown spoke to Give Me Sport and suggested that the 22-year-old Gunner is on the Hammers’ radar:

“West Ham, I think, still have an interest in signing Nketiah in the summer.”

Signing the Arsenal striker for absolutely nothing does seem like an absolute no-brainer for West Ham.

On the one condition that Moyes makes a marquee striker signing as well as bringing Nketiah in on a free transfer.

The English hitman is a hard worker, possesses plenty of pace and has proven at youth level that he is a very good finisher indeed.

Stepping up to the next level and producing the goods on a consistent basis in the Premier League is another matter entirely, however.

Nketiah has struggled to do that at Arsenal but the fact that he is available on a free transfer means that the risk involved in a potential transfer for West Ham is minimal.

We wouldn’t be surprised one little bit if this does end up happening.
