West Ham will surely go back in for Liverpool centre-back Nat Phillips in the January transfer window, after the injury picked up by Kurt Zouma.

Hammers centre-back Zouma, 28, has been ruled out for at least a month after suffering a thigh injury against Everton on Saturday, and now David Moyes must try to sign Phillips from Liverpool.

West Ham boss David Moyes was heavily linked with a move to sign Phillips last January, but he ended up joining Bournemouth on a loan deal instead.

He returned to Anfield in the summer, but has been given only 367 minutes of action by Klopp his season, with just 66 of those coming in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old will surely leave Liverpool before the end of the January transfer window, and West Ham should be all over it…

West Ham must sign Nat Phillips from Liverpool

The centre-back has absolutely everything that we need after Zouma was ruled out for a month or so with a thigh injury.

The 24-year-old is incredibly strong in the air – he proved that in the 2020/21 season during both games against us when he absolutely dominated Michael Antonio and Sebastien Haller. He’s tenacious in the tackle, a great reader of the game and plays with commitment, passion and desire.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp once described Phillips as ‘unbelievable’ (Liverpool Echo). Meanwhile, Rio Ferdinand raved about his display for the Reds at the San Siro in December 2021, labelling Phillips as ‘beautiful’ and ‘Baresi like’ (Daily Mail).

The fact that Phillips has received that kind of praise proves just how much talent he has and how highly regarded he is in the game.

The Liverpool centre-back just needs to join a club where he will be playing regularly. With Moyes seemingly set on a back three, the Hammers could well be the perfect club for him to join.

And with Liverpool allegedly keen to sell Nat Phillips this month, West Ham cannot afford to hesitate in making a move for him.

As the Daily Mail have pointed out, there is plenty of competition for the 25-year-old’s signature as the January transfer window nears its end.
