UEFA could help West Ham’s hopes of signing unwanted Arsenal star Eddie Nketiah after a big Mikel Arteta claim.

When West Ham were looking for a striker in the summer they were heavily linked with Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah.

And not for the first time either.

There were claims that Arsenal might consider using Nketiah as a makeweight in their deal with West Ham for Declan Rice.

And the likes of The Sun even reported that West Ham could pounce to sign Gunners striker Nketiah after he became unsettled by the arrival of Kai Havertz from Chelsea.

In the end Nketiah remained at Arsenal, though, where he has once again been a bit-part player this season.

Meanwhile West Ham are regretting not having signed a replacement for Gianluca Scamacca in the summer with David Moyes’ side clearly lacking a bona fide striker.

Now UEFA could help West Ham’s hopes of signing unwanted Arsenal star Nketiah after a big Mikel Arteta claim.

According to Football Transfers, Arsenal want to sign a new striker in the January transfer window and they need to sell to buy.

And Nketiah is the odd man out with the report claiming ruthless Arteta will sacrifice the forward by listening to offers.

The report states the Gunners are on the borderline of Financial Fair Play rules and so Arteta has told his bosses that the longstanding West Ham target can be sacrificed in order to sign their targets.

That will be music to the ears of Moyes and West Ham.

Nketiah is a rare thing too in that he is a player Moyes likes who also fits the recruitment criteria of Hammers technical director Tim Steidten.

It’s certainly one to watch given the reported pressure on Arsenal from a FFP perspective if they do want to go into the market to get the ‘elite’ forward many believe they need to challenge for the title.
