Thilo Kehrer is closing in on a move to Eintracht Frankfurt from West Ham United in the January transfer window, after having met an official from Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

West Ham defender Thilo Kehrer has been on the outside looking in at the London Stadium this season, and a recent report claimed that he could be sold this winter.

Hammers boss David Moyes has given the 27-year-old just 18 minutes in the Premier League this term (Transfermarkt), so it’s clear to see why he might want to leave the London Stadium in the January transfer window.

And the 27-capped Germany international seemingly has two very solid options where he could potentially move to.

We signed the 27-year-old for around £13 million from Paris Saint-Germain in August 2022 (The Sun).

It would be no surprise to see Kehrer leave the Hammers, he has already been linked with a move to Bayern Munich.

Where will he end up though? That’s the real question…

Thilo Kehrer could leave West Ham in January

According to Dirilis Potasi, Hammers officials met with Fenerbahce director Selahattin Baki recently about sending Kehrer to the Super Lig club.

Meanwhile, German media outlet BILD are claiming that the former Paris Saint-Germain defender is actually close to joining Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.

It remains to be see where he will end up but I’m almost certain that he won’t be a West Ham player beyond the end of the January transfer window.

He has never really established himself with the Hammers, and really doesn’t seem to be suited to the intense nature of Premier League football.

The German doesn’t seem to have the concentration levels, decision making ability and focus needed to succeed in the Premier League.

He’s far too rash in the tackle as well, so a return to his homeland or Turkey may well be the perfect outcome for him this winter.

Thilo Kehrer will most likely not play for West Ham again, certainly not in the Premier League, but quite where he’ll end up still remains up in the air.
