Trevoh Chalobah twist could have big repercussions for West Ham United’s Max Kilman deal

A new Trevoh Chalobah claim has emerged today, and it could impact West Ham United’s move to sign Max Kilman this summer.

West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui is targeting a move to sign Max Kilman from Wolves this summer, but a new Trevoh Chalobah claim has really thrown the cat amongst the pigeons.

It is believed that the Hammers will have to pay £40 million to bring Kilman, 27, to the London Stadium in the summer transfer window.

The Wolves defender is a top-class player, and he would improve us instantly what with his aerial dominance and ability to marshal the back-line with his authoritative nature.

Kilman is the current club captain at Wolves, and with a lack of leaders currently at the London Stadium, he would be a great signing for us in that respect.

In fact, it was recently suggested that Lopetegui wants to sign the Wolves centre-back and immediately install him as the West Ham club captain.

I personally think the former Maidenhead defender should be Lopetegui’s priority signing this summer.

However, could the Spaniard now be set to switch up his plan of action and swoop in for Chelsea’s Chalobah?

Trevoh Chalobah twist could impact West Ham deal for Max Kilman

The Chelsea defender has been heavily linked with a move to the Hammers for quite some time now.

West Ham were said to be lining up a £25 million bid for the defender just last month – one that Chelsea would accept.

There’s no doubting Chalobah’s quality – he is an elite talent who’s proven in the Premier League.

And now, he may well be a more attractive option for the Hammers than Kilman.

That’s because a new claim has been made about The FIFA Club World Cup winner’s future at Stamford Bridge.

According to a report from The Times, Chelsea have offered defender Trevoh Chlobah to West Ham this summer.

The 24-year-old was available for £25 million last month, but with Chelsea now desperate to sell him, the Hammers will surely be able to pick him up for even less than that.

I don’t have to explain to you why that deal may seem more attractive to the West Ham owners than the Kilman one.

If I had my way, we’d sign both, although I’m not sure that will be financially possible. In reality, I’d be happy with either of them arriving at the London Stadium this summer.

Described as an ‘incredible’ defender by Football.London, Chalobah is exactly the kind of signing Lopetegui should be looking to make.

He’s quick along the ground, very strong in the air and vitally for Lopetegui, he has experience of playing Premier League football! In 13 Premier League appearances for Chelsea last season, the centre-back averaged 1.2 tackles and 3.8 clearances per game (Who Scored).

Chalobah can play in the defensive midfield position as well, so the £25 million fee being quoted for him would represent a fantastic deal for the Hammers.

It would not be surprised one little bit to see West Ham move for Trevoh Chalobah instead of Max Kilman this summer now.
