Tottenham are expected to seal an £18 million deal to sign Swansea ace Joe Rodon before Friday’s transfer deadline according to the Daily Star. And West Ham missing out on the centre-back will be a big blow for David Moyes.

Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg claimed last week that the Hammers want to sign the Welshman.

Sky Sports also claim that West Ham are chasing Rodon.

It is claimed that the east London outfit are now prioritising a move to sign Watford centre-back Craig Dawson, however (Sky Sports).

And the Daily Star suggest that Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is expected to complete an £18 million deal to sign Rodon imminently.

The 22-year-old has bundles of potential, and if Spurs do end up signing him, he could be a real hit at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Stats

Rodon made 21 Championship appearances for Swansea last season. In those outings, he averaged one tackle, 1.6 interceptions and 5.4 clearances. The six-capped Wales international also won an average of 3.5 aerial duals per match (Who Scored).

The 22-year-old is the kind of player who could go on to become a genuine star centre-back.

Signing Rodon for just £18 million could end up looking like an absolute steal for Tottenham in a few years time.

And West Ham may end up ruing the fact that they wouldn’t match Swansea’s asking price for the 22-year-old.

Our loss surely will be Spurs’ gain.
