Thiago Mendes breaks silence ahead of potential move to West Ham United from Lyon in the summer transfer window.
Hammers boss David Moyes wants to bring the 30-year-old Brazilian to the London Stadium this summer according to football journalist Jorge Nicola.

And then Nicola suggested that a West Ham offer to sign Mendes could be imminent.
Central midfield is definitely an area where David Moyes will want to strengthen in the summer with Mark Noble set to retire and Alex Kral likely to be sent back to Spartak Moscow.

Thiago Mendes is apparently an options for the Hammers.
The Brazilian has been a key figure for Lyon this season but his time at the Groupama Stadium could very well be coming to an end.
Thiago Mendes breaks silence ahead of potential move to West Ham
The 30-year-old spoke exclusively to Olympique-et-Lyonnais.com and responded when asked about links with West Ham:
“The first thing, I already want to finish this championship very well. I don’t know what will happen after. I still have a year of contract left with the club for which I give my all. I’ll leave here anyway with my head held high. If the president called me to discuss whether or not to renew my contract, I would come and sit with him to listen to him. And if I have to stay for a year, I will always give the best of myself.”
Mendes joined Lyon from Lille in the summer of 2019 for around £20 million (Transfermarkt). He now has just 12 months remaining on his current deal with the Ligue 1 outfit though. So perhaps West Ham could pick him up for a bargain fee in the summer.
The Brazilian, 30, is a very decent footballer.
In 27 Ligue 1 outings for Lyon this season, Mendes has averaged 1.3 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 1.9 clearances per match (Who Scored).
He has made 53.7 passes on average per game and has recorded an impressive completion rate of 88.9% (Who Scored).

Mendes has been described as a ‘brilliant player’ by Soccer Souls.
We strongly believe that David Moyes will be looking elsewhere though. The Scot has consistently made it clear that he wants to bring young, hungry and physically robust players to the London Stadium.
It is debatable whether Mendes could adapt quickly to the Premier League from Ligue 1. Whilst he would be a decent addition for West Ham, we strongly believe that there are much better, younger and more cost effective options out there this summer…
Thiago Mendes breaks silence ahead of potential move to West Ham but it remains to be seen whether Moyes actually does want to sign the Brazilian.
