Pellegrini wants box-to-box Gomes

And he is believed to be West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini’s number one target on a mission to find a classy box-to-box midfielder.

Sky claims Barcelona are keen to offload Gomes. But the Catalan giants are believed to want at least £25m for the 25-year-old.
West Ham fans see Gomes as exactly the sort of quality addition the club should be making.
But just why are Barca so keen to get rid of the international star who has shone for the Toffees.

Messi rift pushing Gomes out of Barca?

Well it appears the driving force being Gomes’s potential move to England and West Ham could be a reported rift with Barcelona legend Lionel Messi.
Last year claims emerged that Messi believed Gomes had been leaking sensitive information to Portugal teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, then at Real Madrid (The Express).

Earlier that season, claims emerged saying Gomes had been criticising Barca untouchable Messi behind the Argentine’s back (The Express and Dario Gol).

West Ham’s prime midfield target was forced to issue a denial as Barca’s fans turned on him.
“I have not said anything against Messi nor the manager, Valverde,” he said.

“It’s all been invented. I have too much respect for Valverde and for Leo to say something like that.”

‘Secret Ronaldo conversations’ strained relations

Dario Gol claimed Gomes feels Messi does not support him at Barcelona and is behind his Nou Camp struggles.

It was also claimed he had told all to Ronaldo, a player he holds in high regard.  Gomes, Diario Gol say, also feels Messi trains poorly for Barcelona.

Gomes’s Barca struggles were laid bare in an emotional interview where he described his time there as ‘hellish’.

“Maybe it’s not the best word but (life at Barca) has become a bit of a hell, because I started to feel the pressure,” Gomes told Panenka magazine.

“The feeling that I have during games is bad.

“Thinking too much hurts me, because I think about the bad things.

“Although my teammates support me a lot, things don’t go for me how they want them to go.”

West Ham must take advantage

And that is why the midfielder appears to have no future at Barca as he sets his heart on securing a permanent Premier League move.

West Ham fans excited by his potential arrival will be hoping the alleged Messi rift will push him in the direction of East London.
