West Ham must up bid for classy star

Sky claims Barcelona are keen to offload Gomes. But the Catalan giants are believed to want at least £25m for the 25-year-old.
Hammers fans see Gomes as exactly the sort of quality addition the club should be making.
The prospect of pairing him up in midfield with Declan Rice and co has some supporters salivating.
Indeed a report from fellow Hammers site Claret & Hugh suggested this week that if Pellegrini wants Gomes then West Ham will get him his man.

Insider delivers update

But reliable West Ham insider ExWHUemployee has delivered an update on the Gomes situation.
The Twitter source and radio personality had three words for fans when asked if it was time to get excited about the midfielder becoming a West Ham player soon.
“Not yet no,” ExWHUemployee said on Twitter.
Even such a simple three-word response had some fans hyped up in anticipation.

Hammers board intending to go higher

Many took the use of the word ‘yet’ as a sign the deal is in the works.
Sky Sports also reported that West Ham remain interested despite their opening bid being rejected and ‘will do their utmost in their attempts to bring Gomes to the London Stadium’.
Meanwhile C&H followed a similar line claiming the West Ham board knew their £18mil bid would be rejected and are ‘willing to go a fair bit hugher’.
