The hugely unrealistic fee that West Ham want for Luizao

West Ham United are now prepared to sell Brazilian centre-back Luizao in the summer it seems.

Luizao joined West Ham on a free transfer from Sao Paulo in January of 2023, but he is still yet to make a senior appearance for the club.

The 21-year-old was heavily linked with a Hammers exit in the January transfer window, with six clubs apparently chasing his signature.

Alas, he remained at the London Stadium, but not for long it seems, with David Moyes keen to move him on.

According to a report from Brazilian media outlet IG, numerous Brazilian clubs want to sign Luizao, as do Ligue 1 outfit Monaco.

But how much will West Ham consider selling him for?

The hugely unrealistic fee that West Ham want for Luizao

IG reckon that the Hammers will demand €5 million (£4 million) for the South American centre-back this summer.

Considering the fact that we signed him for absolutely nothing, it will be a miracle if we manage to sell him for anything like £4 million.

He is still yet to make an appearance for the senior side, having to make do with 30 outings for the under-21s instead (Transfermarkt).

He was actually seen training with the first-team back in October, but that’s the closest he has come to even getting a sniff of being included in the senior squad.

David Moyes clearly doesn’t believe that Luizao is ready to play first-team football just yet – he would have given him a start in a cup game at the very least if he thought he was.

I have a feeling that Luizao’s time in East London will be short-lived. However, I can’t envisage a scenario whereby we get anything like £4 million for him. I reckon he’ll end up leaving for a nominal fee closer to £500k.
