West Ham United unfortunately missed out on signing in-form striker Patrik Schick from AS Roma in the summer of 2020.
The 26-year-old ended up joining Bayer Leverkusen from Roma for just €26.5 million (£22 million) according to Transfermarkt.

Schick made a decent start to life in Germany with 13 goals in 36 games to his name during his debut campaign with Leverkusen (Transfermarkt).
The Czech Republic international would have been the perfect signing for West Ham. It’s such a shame that David Moyes didn’t bring him to the London Stadium 18 months ago.

The Hammers chose not to sign him for £22 million and six months later we sold Sebastien Haller for £20 million. Terrible business all around from the East London outfit.
And now it looks even worse…
West Ham made a huge error not signing Schick
The Czech Republic international has found another level entirely this season for Leverkusen.
Schick has scored 20 goals in 20 Bundesliga outings for the German side (Transfermarkt).
David Moyes wanted to bring the 6ft 3in striker to the London Stadium from AS Roma back in the summer of 2020 and the Scot personally phoned the forward in order to try and tempt him to West Ham (eFotbal).
The Hammers eventually decided against splashing out £22 million on Schick though.
The chance of signing the 26-year-old for such a bargain fee has unfortunately long gone.

He’s now worth around £50 million according to a report from Sky Sports.
Baffling decision from the Hammers
What a ridiculously short-sighted decision it was from West Ham not to sign the now Bayer Leverkusen owned centre-forward.
He would have been absolutely perfect for us.
Schick is incredibly strong in the air and acts as a great focal point for Leverkusen’s attack. He is also a very accomplished finisher.
£22 million for the striker would have been an absolute coup for the Hammers. It is truly baffling why we didn’t make this one happen.
And his exceptional form this season has once again highlighted just how poor West Ham have been in the transfer market in recent years.
