Signing a goalkeeper looks to be West Ham United’s most likely first transfer.
David Moyes needs players in three or four key positions.
And the Scot is clearly targeting a long-term successor to the ageing Lukasz Fabianski if reports this summer are anything to go by.
The Hammers have been heavily linked with PSG outcast Alphonse Areola and West Brom’s Sam Johnstone.

West Ham heavily linked with Areola and Johnstone
West Ham had a bid for Johnstone rejected last week (Sky Sports).
As a result West Ham were also said to be edging closer to signing Areola on loan with the option to buy instead.
Now West Ham insider ExWHUemployee has delivered an update on what appears to be the club’s most likely first proper transfer of the summer.
That appears to be the case given how deathly quiet things are surrounding any other Moyes targets right now.
And Ex has revealed Moyes is yet to make up his mind over Johnstone and Areola.

Insider delivers update on West Ham’s most likely first proper summer signing
“Areola, that deal was never as close as it was (being) said,” Ex said on The West Ham Way podcast (July 18th).
“It’s always been that yes we like him, yes we want to sign him but we also like Johnstone of West Brom and we’re trying to work out what the better deal is.
“Areola has got quite high wages and quite a high transfer fee for a loan and Paris Saint-Germain want to sell him anyway so it’s all a bit up in the air. The club were hoping to get some closure on that soon but it’s still got some way to go – (although) obviously things like this can change overnight.”

Both ideal Fabianski successors but can Hammers get a deal done?
Both Areola and Johnstone are 28-years-old and would make ideal long-term successors to Fabianski.
Whether West Ham can get a deal over the line for either remains to be seen.
But the club does need to start making headway with transfers soon.
