David Moyes is reportedly keen to raid former employers West Ham United and bring both Tomas Soucek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to the Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer.
But what impact will have a £35 million fine have on the Toffees’ spending power? Moyes is hoping not much.
It was confirmed this week that Everton will have to pay Burnley a compensation fee of £35 million following a Profit and Sustainability breach which seemingly helped the Toffees stave off the threat of relegation at the Clarets’ expense in 2022.

Should we make them stay or let them go? 🤔
Now, West Ham United’s own summer plans were thrown into doubt by an eventual 18th-place finish. Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Tomas Soucek are among those who could potentially head for the exit, with Everton reportedly taking an interest in both.
With £35 million disappearing from the coffers, though, will that PSR ruling force a re-think of Everton’s transfer plans?
David Moyes can still hope for an Everton raid of West Ham United
Moyes was asked exactly that question by former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan on talkSPORT.
The response, from a man who led West Ham to Europa Conference League glory in 2023, is that Everton saw this coming and prepared for it accordingly.

“Well, they told me no, Simon. [The Everton owners] told me that it wouldn’t have any affect on [our transfer window],” Moyes said. “And look, I was aware of this probably four or five weeks ago when it was happening, that this would be the case.
“But I’m hoping that it doesn’t [affect our transfer plans]. My understanding is that the Friedkins [owners] were aware of this when they were buying the club, that there was a possibility this could happen.
“So, the answer to that, Simon, I really hope is ‘no’. I hope it has no affect on what we’re going to do in the summer.”

Reports say that Everton have held talks with Wan-Bissaka already. It is understood that West Ham may be willing to accept around £10 million for a right-back who claimed the club’s Player of the Year award in his first season before enduring a much more difficult second.
And, according to talkSPORT, Moyes would love to work with Soucek again.
Soucek admitted he was torn on his West Ham future in an all-encompassing interview with Forbes on the eve of their World Cup matchday one defeat by South Korea in Guadalajara.
With one year left on his contract and with his 32nd birthday coming up, Soucek is unlikely to require an eye-watering fee.
Wan-Bissaka is due to kick off his own World Cup campaign on Wednesday when DR Congo face Portugal.
