It seems West Ham United have a new transfer negotiator in Tomas Soucek.

Ex claims Moyes wants Arnautovic back at West Ham but has problem with owners

That’s according to the boss of the Czech star’s former club Slavia Prague.

West Ham have pulled off one of their best ever pieces of business with the bargain £15million signing of Soucek from the Czech champions.

Soucek proves his worth on and off the pitch

And they followed that up by taking Soucek’s advice to sign Coufal from Slavia too.

At just £5m, the brilliant right-back is arguably one of the signings of the season as well.

After the success of their dealings with Slavia, West Ham have been linked with a host of other players from their new-found sister club.

Goalkeeper Ondrej Kolar, midfielders Nicolae Stanciu and Alex Kral and striker Abdallah Sima have all been linked after being recommended to West Ham by Soucek.

Slavia president quips that Soucek is their best agent

Commenting on West Ham’s links to several Slavia players, Soucek said: “The communication from coaches at West Ham is very good.

“They ask me about the boys from the Czech national team, they ask about the players in Slavia. I exchange a few names that I think would be interesting to West Ham.”

Now Slavia Prague chief Jaroslav Tvrdik has joked that Soucek has become the club’s best transfer agent.

“Our best current agent,” Tvrdik said on Twitter with a laughing emoji.

President’s joke is West Ham’s reality

Tvrdik may be laughing. But the president’s joke is West Ham’s reality.

Because Soucek genuinely has become West Ham’s transfer guru.

That tells you everything you need to know about West Ham’s recruitment setup in recent times.

Under David Sullivan and David Gold that department has been sorely lacking.

But David Moyes has a more stringent structure for identifying, tracking and signing talent.

That has been evident in the arrivals of Jarrod Bowen, Soucek, Coufal and Said Benrahma.

It is clear West Ham need more reinforcements. Particularly up front, in defensive midfield and at left-back.

Long term the Hammers need a replacement goalkeeper for Lukasz Fabianski too.

Whether they can find any of those pieces of the puzzle at Slavia remains to be seen.

But things are certainly moving in the right direction.
