Sky Sports transfer reporter Kaveh Solhekol makes big agent claim on West Ham striker hunt in the January window.
West Ham need to strike a light in the dark of a very quiet transfer window so far because they’re a striker light.
It has been abundantly clear to Hammers fans for some time that David Moyes needs to bring in another forward.
Biggest STAR Your Club Are Trying To SIGN This Month
Indeed West Ham supporters were urging the club to sign another striker BEFORE selling Sebastien Haller to Ajax a year ago.
Michail Antonio has carried the weight of goalscoring expectation ever since. And even he admitted he could do with some help in a recent interview with Standard Sport.
The problem is Moyes is famous for his due diligence when it comes to bringing players in.
The Scot spends money like it is his own and it has served West Ham superbly well since his return to east London two years ago.
Fans completely trust in the manager and his judgement. But with so much to play for in the second half of the season, there is some restlessness that West Ham have still not addressed the striker issue.
West Ham have been linked with the world and its wife when it comes to strikers and forwards with the January transfer rumour mill whirring away.
Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol makes big agent claim on West Ham striker hunt
And Sky Sports transfer reporter Kaveh Solhekol revealed last night how difficult it is for a club like West Ham as agents know they need a striker and are not shy in putting forward their clients.
“David Moyes has had those thoughts (that West Ham would struggle if Antonio was to get injured) for a long time now,” Solhekol said on Sky Sports News’s Transfer Show on Wednesday night.
“And they have been looking for other forwards, other strikers…
“They get offered hundreds of players the whole time. Lots of agents are putting deals in front of them.
“But as I said David Moyes is very cautious, very careful. And overall if you look at his record in the transfer market and the quality of players he’s signed, you have to back his judgment.”
Moyes is right to only want players who will improve on what he has at West Ham.
Many fans do think the boss is perhaps overthinking things a touch, though, with lots of strikers out there who are supposedly available that could easily do a job for the Hammers.
But in Moyes we trust whatever he decides to do.
