Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol suggested yesterday that the owners of ‘the other 14’ may well be reluctant to do business with the chiefs from the ‘big six’ after proposed plans for a new European Super League drastically collapsed yesterday. And if true, it may well jeopardise West Ham United’s hopes of signing Jess Lingard from Manchester United this summer.

We have to hope that David Sullivan will put any potential differences aside with the Manchester United hierarchy when negotiating a deal for Lingard in the summer.

The 28-year-old is so important to us. We quite simply must get the deal done.

Kaveh Solhekol’s claim yesterday is undoubtedly a concern, however.
