How much would West Ham United realistically be able to get by selling captain Jarrod Bowen following their relegation from the Premier League?
That was a question put to Simon Jordan, the former Crystal Palace chairman, on the day when it was confirmed that Nuno Espirito Santo will be staying at the London Stadium.
Some much-needed clarity.
Things are far less certain when it comes to the future of West Ham United skipper Jarrod Bowen, however.

A source close to the club told Hammers News this week that the club ‘hope’ to retain Bowen’s services.
Whether this is wishful thinking or a realistic possibility, only time will tell. Much will rest on the kind of offers received over the coming months, both from a financial and a sporting perspective.
Simon Jordan thinks £40m is the most West Ham United’s could get for Jarrod Bowen

Jordan, never one to mince his words, thinks West Ham would be lucky to get even half of a mooted £60 million asking price. Bowen will turn 30 in December, after all.
Not every club is so short-sighted – Niclas Fullkrug returns from Milan with two years left on his £90,000-a-week contract – to offer up long-term deals to a man whose best years may lie in the past.
“I actually think he wouldn’t cost that,” Jordan said when asked if the 22-cap England international could fetch a fee in excess of what Tottenham paid for Mohammed Kudus.
“They’re not stupid, West Ham. They’re not going to get £60 million for a 29-year-old. I reckon you’d get him out of there for 30, maybe 40 at the most.”
Hammers skipper reluctant to confirm his future plans
Bowen appears to be keeping all his options open ahead of what would be a first season in the second tier since leaving Hull City over half a decade ago.
Manchester United and Liverpool have been linked. The latter in particular; a spot on the right-hand side opening up at Anfield following Mo Salah’s departure.
Then again, the feeling in some quarters is that Bowen may have missed the boat with his 30th birthday only a few months away.
Jarrod Bowen is NOT in England’s World Cup squad! 🤯 What’s your reaction? 💭
Thomas Tuchel has made several SHOCKING decisions!
“It’s hard to post something like this when all you’re feeling is embarrassment and pain,” Bowen said on Instagram following Tottenham’s fateful, final day victory over Everton. “I could write loads trying to explain where it all went wrong this season, but honestly what you deserve from me is an apology.
“Winning that trophy in Prague was the best night of my career. Sunday was the worst.
“We just weren’t good enough. Simple as that. And that’s why the season ended the way it did. To the fans, you didn’t let us down once. The support home and away never changed, even when things weren’t good enough from us on the pitch. We should have given you more. You deserved more.
“One thing I know about this club is that it has the desire and fight to bounce back from this. This club belongs in the Premier League and deserves to be back there as soon as possible.”
