West Ham could be set to battle it out with the likes of Jose Mourinho’s Roma for talented centre-back Jakub Kiwior in January.

That’s according to a report from Calciomercato.it who claim that the Hammers face competition from Roma, Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan for the 22-year-old Spezia ace ahead of the January transfer window.

West Ham allegedly had a £10 million bid for Kiwior rejected by Spezia in the summer transfer window.

At the time though, Craig Dawson was being heavily linked with a move to Aston Villa and Wolves (The Sun).

Dawson ended up staying at the London Stadium, so the need for Kiwior wasn’t as urgent as it might have been, had the 32-year-old left.

It seems as though Moyes is still eyeing up a move for Spezia defender though…

West Ham and Roma battling for Jakub Kiwior

According to a report from Calciomercato.it, the Hammers face competition from Roma for the centre-back in January.

We really hope that Moyes manages to bring him to the London Stadium.

Kiwior is obviously a huge talent, and Robert Lewandowski recently raved about his countryman, labelling him as ‘extraordinary’.

The four-capped international would be a sensational addition for West Ham in my opinion.

He is a left-footed centre-back but can operate as a defensive midfielder as well, and that versatility would obviously appeal to Moyes.

In 22 Serie A appearances last season, Kiwior averaged 2.3 tackles, 1.8 interceptions and 2.2 clearances per game (Who Scored).

The Polish ace stands at 6ft 2in tall and is very energetic and mobile.

The Spezia defender is a proper athlete, but it must be said that he is totally unproven in the Premier League. Players a lot better than Kiwior have arrived in the Premier League and failed to succeed.

However, Kiwior does seem to have all the attributes needed to succeed in England. So I believe that Moyes should sign the Polish ace in January.

The Spezia ace is someone who we believe will go on to become an elite central defender.

Whether West Ham manage to beat Roma to the signing of Jakub Kiwior in January remains to be seen though.
