West Ham fans are well aware much of the club’s activity in the summer transfer window will revolve around the sale of Declan Rice.
The Hammers talisman is expected to depart for at least £100m and West Ham will be looking to spend that money wisely to improve the squad.
As ever it will be a case of how West Ham spend their summer transfer kitty rather than how much they spend.
West Ham are being linked with a plethora of players from the likes of Joao Palhinha, James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez to Harvey Barnes, Viktor Gyokeres and Jonathan David to name but a few.
For many football supporters the summer transfer window is an exciting time of year as they follow all the twists, turns, claims and counter claims.

But the general consensus among managers and fans is that getting business done early is vital.
It ensures new signings have a full pre-season to get to know their new teammates and get used to the style of play and system.
The difficulties West Ham had in the Premier League last season are proof that bringing in a host of players – many of whom had little or no pre-season – and introducing them to a new style and system can be extremely tough.
With talk that Arsenal want to get a deal for Rice wrapped up as soon as possible, many might assume West Ham would be well placed to go out and into the market and get their own business done.

Especially after reports David Moyes is targeting more British-based players – for whom the window has been open since last week.
But a reporter close to the West Ham board has made a big transfer window claim about summer signings that will divide opinion among fans.
According to Hugh Southon of Claret and Hugh, his West Ham sources have stated they are in no rush to enter the summer market.
He states that the Rice money will form the majority of the club’s transfer kitty. And adds that ‘the club will be waiting on negotiations over new players until later in the window’.

“The Hammers – whilst having extra funds if required – see the sale of Declan Rice sale as providing the major cash available to them this summer plus perhaps bits and pieces from other departing players,” Southon reports.
“Moyes certainly appears to have his eye on certain players – notably Harvey Barnes – but the club have made it clear to Claret and Hugh they are in no rush to enter the summer window…
“Our key source has told us on two separate occasions that the Rice money is the basis for this season’s window and that the club will be waiting on negotiations over new players until later in the window.”
The report also suggests West Ham will hold off making signings until the new Director of Football – rumoured to be German Tim Steidten – is appointed.
With the long round-trip to Australia on the horizon, waiting until late in the window to bring in signings will leave Moyes very little time to intergrate.
The hope is that if – as reported – the majority will be British-based, they will be able to hit the ground running.
The likes of Gianluca Scamacca, Maxwel Cornet and in many respects Lucas Paqueta all struggled due to a lack of pre-season. Although the Brazilian – thankfully – eventually found his feet during the last few months of the campaign.
