A reporter close to David Sullivan has made a major West Ham transfer claim that’s great news for Liverpool after rumours over Jarrod Bowen contract talks.
Two players have really stepped up as talismanic figures for West Ham in the wake of Declan Rice’s departure.
One of them is Brazilian magnicifo Lucas Paqueta, the other is West Ham’s Prague hero Jarrod Bowen.
Paqueta had looked set to join Man City in an £85m move until allegations over involvement in illegal betting – which he vehemently denies – saw that collapse.

Bowen meanwhile has been persistently linked with Liverpool as their long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool’s alleged interest in West Ham’s top scorer Bowen – who scored at Anfield recently – stretches back to 2021.
Indeed The Sun claimed back then that West Ham actually rejected a bid from Liverpool.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has hardly hidden his admiration for Bowen either. Ahead of a clash between the two sides around that time, the German waxed lyrical Bowen’s praises.
The links have not gone away. And last month The Athletic claimed Liverpool have been watching West Ham’s star attacker closely for some time now with a view to trying to sign him as their replacement for Saudi-linked Salah.

But in the wake of those fresh Liverpool links, it was reported that West Ham are confident of getting Bowen tied down to a new long-term deal having been in talks for over a year.
Now there has been an update on the situation from a source with close ties to the West Ham boardroom.
A reporter close to David Sullivan has made a major West Ham transfer claim that’s great news for Liverpool after rumours over Bowen contract talks.
Sean Whetstone counts Hammers vice-chair Karren Brady and Sullivan among his contacts.
And he claims a lack of progress on a new deal for Bowen could force West Ham to sell the Liverpool target next summer.

Whetstone also suggests throwing more money at Bowen in his new deal may not necessarily solve the problem.
“West Ham are desperate to get a new long-term deal over the line for Jarrod Bowen before the January transfer window opens, hoping they don’t have a repeat of the Declan Rice situation where they were forced to sell their star player over the summer, after failing to agree new terms,” Whetstone said.
“Not always about the wages as it wasn’t with Rice.”
This is very concerning news for West Ham fans.
Nobody has epitomised David Moyes’s West Ham transformation more than bargain £20 million signing Bowen.
Amid the interest from Liverpool West Ham must look to reward Bowen by making him the club’s highest paid player.
He is well ensconced in the West Ham-mad Dyer family a a result of his relationship with reality star Dani – daughter of Hammers fanatic Danny Dyer.
But if the money isn’t right or Bowen is not convinced by the club’s ambition then that will count for little.
