West Ham could rival Tottenham for the signature of Sampdoria ace Mikkel Damsgaard in the summer according to a report from the Daily Star.

The 20-year-old is a left winger by trade but he can also operate in the central midfield and centre-forward positions.
Hammers boss David Moyes will be desperate to bolster his ranks at the London Stadium in the summer. The same can be said of Spurs boss Jose Mourinho at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
With Mikkel Damsgaard’s ability to play in three different positions, his versatility will surely appeal to both West Ham and Tottenham.

The young Dane joined Sampdoria from Nordsjaelland in the summer of 2020 for around €6.7 million (£6 million) according to Sempre Inter.
Damsgaard has racked up two goals and four assists in 20 Serie A games for Sampdoria thus far. That’s a fairly impressive return considering that he has played just 57 minutes per match on average (Transfermarkt).
West Ham to challenge Tottenham for Mikkel Damsgaard?
The Daily Star claims that West Ham are ready to challenge Tottenham for the Sampdoria starlet in the summer. Leeds, Southampton and Juventus are also said to be keen.
The Serie A outfit allegedly value the 20-year-old at around £15 million (Daily Star).

That seems like a lot of money for someone who is totally unproven in the Premier League.
Damsgaard is a real talent, however. And he has the quality to go on and become a real star if he continues to work hard.
Football Critic suggest that the 20-year-old has ‘uncanny ability’ and his playing style has been compared to Napoli and Belgium star Dries Mertens.
Much will depend on how much money Moyes actually has to spend this summer. The Scot’s priority will be to strengthen his centre-forward ranks after all.
If the owners back Moyes sufficiently, however, there is no reason why the Hammers can’t bring the 20-year-old Sampdoria ace to East London this summer.
And beating Tottenham to his signature will make it even sweeter for the West Ham fans.
