West Ham United are one of a few clubs who are at the front of the queue for Sampdoria ace Mikkel Damsgaard according to a report from La Repubblica.

Hammers boss David Moyes will be desperate to bolster his ranks at the London Stadium this summer.
The Scot should be looking to sign a new centre-forward first and foremost. Perhaps his next port of call should be bringing an established defensive midfielder to the London Stadium.
Sampdoria ace Mikkel Damsgaard is incredibly versatile, however, and that will surely appeal to West Ham.
The 20-year-old is a left winger by trade but he can also operate in the central midfield and centre-forward positions.
West Ham leading race for Mikkel Damsgaard?
According to a report from La Repubblica, the Hammers are one of a few clubs who have jumped to the front of the queue for the young Dane’s signature.
Damsgaard joined Sampdoria from Nordsjaelland in the summer of 2020 for around €6.7 million (£6 million) according to Sempre Inter.
The 20-year-old has racked up two goals and four assists in 21 Serie A games for Sampdoria thus far. That’s a fairly impressive return considering that he has played just 57 minutes per match on average (Transfermarkt).

The Sampdoria ace would be a superb addition for the Hammers. We won’t have things all our own way, however.
The Daily Star claims that Tottenham, Leeds, Southampton and Juventus are also keen on the versatile young talent.
The Serie A outfit allegedly value the 20-year-old at around £15 million (Daily Star).
That seems like very decent value for someone with so much talent and potential.
Hopefully the West Ham owners are ready to show some ambition this summer. And signing Damsgaard would be a great place to start.
