Report: West Ham need to double bid to £20 million to sign ‘extraordinary’ 22-year-old in the January transfer window

West Ham will have to double our offer for Spezia centre-back Jakub Kiwior, if we want to sign him in the January transfer window.

That’s according to a report from La Nazione who claim that the Hammers have already had a €12 million (£10 million) offer for the 22-year-old rejected.

It is suggested that West Ham need to raise that offer to €24 million (£20 million), if David Moyes is to have any chance of bringing him to the London Stadium in January.

It was recently claimed that the Hammers have expedited their pursuit of Kiwior, after Kurt Zouma underwent knee surgery.

If the West Ham owners really want to back Moyes by signing Kiwior though, they will need to put their money where their mouths are…

According to a report from La Nazione, the Hammers need to pay £20 million in order to sign the Spezia centre-back this winter.

I think that would actually be great value for West Ham, given Kiwior’s quality.

He has been described as Poland’s most sought-after player.

Kiwior is obviously a huge talent, and Robert Lewandowski recently raved about his countryman, labelling him as ‘extraordinary’.

And considering his age, he will be someone who just keeps getting better and better.

He is a left-footed centre-back but can operate as a defensive midfielder as well, and that versatility would obviously appeal to David Moyes.

In 22 Serie A appearances last season, Kiwior averaged 2.3 tackles, 1.8 interceptions and 2.2 clearances per game (Who Scored).

The Polish ace stands at 6ft 2in tall and is very energetic and mobile.

The Spezia defender is a proper athlete, but it must be said that he is totally unproven in the Premier League. Players a lot better than Kiwior have arrived in the Premier League and failed to succeed.

However, Kiwior does seem to have all the attributes needed to succeed in England. So I believe that he will be more than worth the reported £20 million fee needed to sign him.

It remains to be seen whether the West Ham owners are prepared to splash out that kind of cash in the January transfer window though.
