West Ham United are in talks to sign Bordeaux striker Josh Maja according to a report from L’Equipe.
The Hammers have been frantically trying to sign a new centre-forward since selling Sebastien Haller to Ajax three weeks ago.
As yet, however, we are nowhere near signing anyone.
One of the names linked is Bordeaux striker Josh Maja.
ExWHUemployee recently claimed that the 22-year-old could be an option for David Moyes this summer.
West Ham in Josh Maja talks
It now appears that West Ham are stepping up their interest in the striker.
L’Equipe claims that the Hammers are in talks to bring the Bordeaux ace back to England.
Maja, 22, was managed by David Moyes during the Scot’s time in charge at Sunderland.
The London born striker left the Black Cats to join Bordeaux two years ago and has racked up 11 goals in 48 games for the Ligue 1 outfit (Transfermarkt).
He is far from prolific but is an incredibly hard worker and possesses pace in abundance.
The Sun suggests that Josh Maja could be available for around £10 million.
That does seem like a lot of money for somewhat with Maja’s goal record, however. Perhaps if West Ham could pick him up for half of that fee it would be decent business.
Let’s be honest here though. Signing the Bordeaux striker would be better that not bringing anyone in before the transfer window closes!
