West Ham United allegedly have an official offer on the table for versatile Burnley star Maxwel Cornet but unfortunately for us, Newcastle do as well.
That’s according to BBC journalist Fraser Fletcher who claims that the 25-year-old will leave Burnley this summer with West Ham and Newcastle pushing hard for his signature.

Hammers manager David Moyes has been heavily linked with a move to sign Cornet over the past few weeks (Daily Mail).
And it was reported yesterday that if West Ham want to pay for the Ivory Coast international in instalments, we may need to pay more than his £17.5 million release clause – £25 million in fact.
Moyes desperately needs to bring a versatile left-sided player to the London Stadium before the start of the new season this weekend, especially with Arthur Masuaku believed to be on his way out of the club.
And it seems as though the Scot is doing all that he can to make that happen…
West Ham make official Maxwel Cornet bid
According to BBC journalist Fraser Fletcher, the Hammers have lodged an official offer for the pacy Burnley star but Newcastle are pushing hard to bring him to St James’ Park as well.
Hopefully the chance to play European football and to live in London will be enough to sway Cornet in his decision.
Cornet joined Burnley from Lyon in the summer of 2021 for around £13 million (BBC).
He has been a huge hit at Turf Moor, bagging nine goals and two assists in 29 games for the Clarets (Transfermarkt).
We believe that the Burnley speed demon would be a sensational signing for West Ham.
He’s one of the quickest forwards in the Premier League and can operate on either wing or at left-back.
Cornet can even play as a striker if need be!
The 29-capped Ivory Coast international is aggressive, direct and loves running at opposing defenders.
West Ham have struggled without any real pace in our team over the past year or so. Michail Antonio has definitely lost half a yard.
The Premier League is built on power and pace nowadays. The Burnley star has been described as an ‘explosive player’ by ESPN pundit Ale Moreno.
Whether or not West Ham manage to beat Newcastle to the signing of Maxwel Cornet this summer remains to be seen though.
